The University Choir is a co-educational choir of about 70 undergraduate students from the College of Arts and Sciences. Under the direction of Dr. Robert Granville Delcamp who is a Professor of Music and University Organist, the Choir performs one concert each semester in addition to the Festival of Lessons and Carols in December which draws roughly 3500 people from all over the region. Our Assistant Organist is Mr. Steven Wooddell.
The Choir is primarily a Chapel Choir singing in All Saints' Chapel for the University Service on Sundays, Convocations, and Evensong services on the first Sunday of each month. There are no competitive auditions. Prospective choristers will sing a voice trial to determine section placement. The Choir's repetiore explores the tradition of Anglican Church music from Purcell and Byrd to Howells and Britten.
For the 1999-2000 school year, the Choir will sing for the Festival of Lessons and Carols in December. In the summer of 2000, the Choir will be touring England. In the late autumn, the Choir will be singing Faure's Requiem for All Soul's Day. Later, in the Spring of 2000, the Choir will combine forces with the Murray State Choir of Kentucky to sing Vivaldi's Gloria and Schubert's G-minor Mass. More information may be available from All Saints' Chapel on the "Special Events" page.
The chorister responsible for the creation and maintenance of this site is Jeff Fiore. Comments should be addressed here.
