Each ADT active is required by the sorority to perform three acts of community service each semester. Each pledge must perform two. This focus on community service helps our sorority show our concern for human issues, both on campus and in the rest of the world.
"Take Back the Night," a seminar on date-rape and other women's issues was organized by ADTs, and many ADTs participated.
ADTs go on outreach trips, participate in the Sewanee Aids Awareness organization, tutor children, volunteer with church youth groups, and participate in Amnesty International.
ADTs also participate with the Emergency Medical Technician program.
We also care about the rights of our pledges. We believe in repectingthe rights of the moral decisions the women who join our sorority make. Drinking has never been an integral part of pledgeship, or being an active member of the sorority.
Many of the most fun activites for pledges don't include drinking at all, such as the Pledge retreat, Pledge skits, and many in-room activies.
The most important aspects of ADT, such as our bonfires and our Activation Ceremony, have never and will never include drinking.
In general, ADT bases her sisterhood around the friendships between members, reaching out to be an integral part of campus, and providing community service for the Mountain - just as our purpose states!
